Multimedia eLearning Environment

Supporting Primary Learners Through Inclusive Technology

Overview

This multimedia eLearning environment was developed as part of my graduate coursework in Educational Technology. Using Adobe Captivate, I created an interactive learning module designed specifically for primary-aged students (ages 8–14), including learners with mild autism. The environment incorporates principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to ensure accessibility, engagement, and flexibility for a wide range of learning needs.

 Rationale for Tool Choice

I selected Adobe Captivate due to its strong support for:

  • Interactive elements (quizzes, drag-and-drop, branching scenarios)
  • Multimedia integration (text, audio, video)
  • Responsive design, enabling access across devices
  • SCORM compliance, allowing integration with learning management systems

Compared to other authoring tools like Articulate Storyline or H5P, Captivate offered more granular control over interactions and custom navigation, which was essential for designing a learner-centered experience for students with varied needs. It also aligned with my instructional goals of building confidence, independence, and communication skills among students with developmental challenges.
